Morgana Lynch – Human Fighter

from $3.00

A veteran of the Liturium War, Morgana was once a squad commander within the Golden Griffins. During the Siege of Nirloom, her squad was utterly annihilated, either bathed in arcane fire or torn to shreds by the arcane-infused glaives of the Leacianan defenders. She barely escaped with her own life, having been incapacitated by rubble as the battle raged on, only lifted from the ruins by another squad hours later, moments before the city fell. She cursed them for this, having wished to find her death alongside her squad mates, and she bore the guilt after like a cloak of led, constantly weighing her down. Thus when peace was declared and the war had ended, Morgana tried to volunteer for the peacekeeping corps that would remain in Leacianus, quelling any would-be uprisings that might come out of the defeated and occupied Elven populace.

Her commander saw that Morgana was shaken and filled with an insatiable bloodlust however. He denied her request and discharged here thereafter with a hefty combat bonus, in hopes she might decide to use the money to settle and buy some land or a home in a city. Instead she paid for a set of plate armour, a new shiny sword and passage to the outpost of Zander’s Peril, in the deadly swamps of Lo Fuin, the home of the Drow. The outpost was a research station and fortress used by scholars studying the alien swamplands and hoping to build a relationship with the Drow populace, as well as understanding the expansive caverns beneath the swamp. Though most of these attempts were fruitless, with researchers either cut down by the Drow lurking in the shadows and scrubs, or the monsters lurking beneath the boggy water. Morgana hoped she might find her own demise there, in battle rather than boredom or at the end of her own blade.

Though no such luck befell her, every expedition she has joined into the wilderness has proved uneventful, as though the swamp itself heard her pleas for death and chose to ignore them. With such veritable luck, Morgana became favoured among expeditioners in the swamps due to this odd occurrence, with her expeditions always returning unharmed lest any strayed too far from their protector. Hearing these rumours, Kaiar the Omniscient hired Morgana as his escort when he arrived in Zander’s Peril, looking for a local to bring him to the Glanbelite Drow city of Hirika. Morgana knew only part of the way, but the man was offering a handsome bit of coin, and she found herself intrigued by his solemn mood and secretive quest. They arrived at the entrance to Hirika unharmed, trekking through the swamp for days, though now Kaiar has offered her a second payment to join him in the depths below. She’s agreed, yet for what reason she is unsure. Is it due to her longing for death, hoping she might find it in the perilous lands below? Or is she fascinated by this man, wanting to see where his quest takes him, and how it ends?
