Tira of the Farlands – Outlander Ranger

Nan Thalias’ northwestern reaches near the border of Formen is host to vast stretches void of major settlements, inhabited by few groups of remote Elven tribes referred to as Farlanders, by their kin. Though they are ethnically similar to the northern Elves who call the city of Dae Valle home, their cultural identity is far removed, and is indeed the closest living culture to that of the ancient Beremeni of the Age of Creation, or so they and most scholars claim. The Farlanders live in the foothills, forests and mountains of Nan Thalias’ northern borders near Leacianus and Formen, in remote villages built seamlessly into the landscapes. Subterranean abodes that are invisible to the untrained eye in the foothills and mountains, and treehouses high atop the canopy within the forests, only accessible to those naturally skilled in climbing. Tira is one such Farlander, who, in pursuit of a basilisk that attacked her village, came into contact with the WEHL.

A scholar among the party there spoke to her, surprised to see a Farlander pursuing a beast such a distance from her village. Embarrassed, confused and caught off-guard, she dismissed the comment and instead demanded they aid her in slaying the creature. While they did, the party, at the insistence of the scholar, mostly gave her space to fight the creature of mostly her own accord, watching in awe as she stood toe to toe with the menacing beast, ultimately outsmarting it with a range of traps and manoeuvres before delivering the final blow. Impressed, the scholar offered her a place in the WEHL, to which she kindly refused, citing her loyalty to her people. Yet, when rumour reached the ears of tribes that she had been fraternising with outsiders, she was shunned. In truth the offer had interested her, so in an act of rebellious spirit to her people’s shunning, she left them, tracking down the scholar and his party in the village of Iaur Er two days from where she first encountered them. Further impressed by her tracking, they brought her with them to Dae Valle, where she was inducted into the WEHL.

Her skills made her a proficient hunter from initiation, and her wealth of knowledge as a primary source for an extremely secretive and closely guarded culture left her with accreditation in many WEHL publishings on Nan Thalian Farlanders. Having learnt of this when Tira tried to return home for the holy days in Midsummer, she was exiled from her people. Now, the WEHL is all she knows, until her family and tribe can find in their hearts to forgive her transgressions, or she can find a way to redeem herself. Until then, she can only hope that her work in the WEHL might be working towards the redemption that she seeks, and has become morley closely guarded when talking of her people since that day.
