Vixa Indwynath – Drow Pathfinder of the Deep
Among the Glanbelite Drow, there are nomadic clans who hold no settlements, keeping themselves constantly on the move either in the Underground of Lo Fuin, or across its oppressive swamps. Vixa Indwynath was born into one of these clans, Clan Edrogath, numbering a just over a hundred, the clan had spent centuries dwelling in darkness, making them reliable allies to the noble Glanbelite houses in Hirika, who sought their expertise in navigating the uncharted nethers of the Underground. Vixa, like her parents before her, was raised as a pathfinder, those who trek the perilous untread paths through the perilous Underground, finding the safest and quickest ways for their clan to follow in their stead.
Pathfinding was a treacherous occupation, with the Indwynath family the only ones among the clan that still partook in the profession, most other families having hung up their cloaks after grief and loss, losing family members to poor footing or a hidden monstrosity in the abyssal blackness. Vixa, however, approached her profession with a devil-may-care attitude, seeming to throw caution to the wind, trusting her gut at every turn. Some might think this to be a surefire way to a quick, or painful death. Though the young girl has so far prevailed, despite the odds, earning her a reputation as both quick-witted and a formidable leader.
Despite her young age, Vixa is highly respected by the elders of Clan Edrogath and most who speak against her are quickly shunned or silenced. Beneath the veneer of her carefree attitude, an incessant fear boils; the fear of losing her parents in the field, or her siblings. Vixa is thus always the first to volunteer for the most dangerous missions, step first into a field of fire or throw herself into harm’s way if it means sparing her own family from doing so. For she could not live with their deaths if they were to perish in her stead, so she ensures, as often as she can, that no such opportunity arises.
